St. John's Lutheran School operates as a ministry of St. John's Lutheran Church and is governed by the policies of the elected School Board of St. John's Lutheran Church.

SJS serves the entire community and admits students of any race, sex, and/or ethnic/national origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities at school. Furthermore, SJS does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, and/or ethnic/national origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, athletic or other school administered programs.  However, preference is given to children of St. John's Lutheran Church in order of admissions.

Immediate supervision of the school rests with the Principal who serves as the executive director.  With the consultation of the Faculty, the Principal suggests changes to policies for the improvement and welfare of the students and the educational program. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the Principal to ensure that the policies are followed and that the directives of the Board of Christian Education, as well as the Congregation, are carried out to completion.
